Sixth Form Life
At Cardinal Pole we have a high achieving Sixth Form that is in the top 10% of Sixth Forms nationally for value-added, over the last three years. As well as academic excellence, students in our Sixth Form benefit from small class sizes, personalised support in mentoring and work experience, a varied and exciting enrichment programme and a committed pastoral care system in which students will feel supported in the most challenging stage of their academic careers.
Teaching and Learning
All students benefit from an average teaching ratio of one teacher to twelve students. This gives our students a far more personalised education than they would receive in most colleges or Sixth Forms. Students are also provided with additional after school tuition in addition to Saturday classes and half-term revision programmes.
Supporting the outstanding teaching and learning in the classroom, students benefit from an excellent pastoral care system. All students are in small tutorial groups led by inspiring tutors that have attended Russell Group universities.
Emphasis is on our students developing the maturity and social skills that will enable them to cope independently with growing into adulthood. Trained tutors are always accessible to advise, support and inspire the young people in their care. It is a feature of our provision that students gain from one to one support in the process of applying to Universities, School Leaver Programmes and Apprenticeships.
The school has a highly developed Enrichment Programme that includes participation in Duke of Edinburgh Award, Online University Courses, Music, Film Studies, Debating Club, Sports Leaders Award Level 2, Gym Classes, Yoga, First Aid, Sports and the Envision Community Project
These courses not only provide an outlet for the creative and physical energies of our students, they complement the subjects being studied in a dynamic and exciting way.
We want all our students to be well rounded individuals who at the end of their time at Cardinal Pole have something more to offer employers and Universities than academic success.
