Sixth Form

Cardinal Pole Sixth Form has acquired a reputation of excellence for delivering a high quality education to our students.

The Sixth Form was graded as "Outstanding" by OFSTED in January 2017 who commented that "High-quality teaching and excellent support give students real opportunities to reach their potential". 29% of our A-level students that attended university went to Russell Group Universities. Our A-Level and vocational results are consistently in the top 10% of schools nationally.

Based in its own block in the school building, our Sixth Form provides specialised classrooms, containing state of the art IT facilities and a dedicated resources and study area.

A large common room is also available to our students throughout the day.

At Cardinal Pole, students receive the high quality education they deserve. We expect all of our students to proceed onto prestigious University degree courses or into further vocational training of the highest order.

Cardinal Pole Sixth Form students gain access to a wide variety of excellent university destinations. In 2020 40% of our university applicants gained places at Russell Group universities. In addition, each year students progress to the highly selective Oxbridge universities and Medicine courses. This is testament to Cardinal Pole students’ hard work and aspirational outlook, as well as the excellent teaching, dedicated pastoral care and comprehensive careers support they receive during their time here.

While the majority of our students choose to progress to university, a growing number are seeking alternative pathways. We have supported these students to access Higher Level and Degree Apprenticeships at a wide variety of prestigious companies, including KPMG, the Bank of England, Wates and BT Sport.
