Duke of Edinburgh Expedition
Twenty year 12 students braved the elements on their practice Silver expedition to the New Forest.
Despite various detours into marshy grounds, all groups learnt valuable navigation skills using a compass and OS maps, building up to an independent walk on the final day. After setting up their tents and cooking their own dinner, the students were able to relax in the evenings with a campfire, toasted marshmallows and scary stories. This expedition was all about navigating an unfamiliar area, which was made all the more interesting by the large variety of wildlife in the forest, from wild ponies to an adder!
