RE & Liturgy
Head of Department
The vision of the Religious Education department is to provide students with the opportunity to develop a deep theological understanding of the Catholic faith, Judaism and other world religions. To enable students to understand the teachings of the Catholic Church and how they are foundered on the person of Jesus and how they can be applied to the modern world. To provide students with analytical tools to explore ethical issues and be able to explain the Catholic position and other religious perspectives, by being able to make theological links to beliefs, teaching and practices. To provide students with an opportunity to reflect on the deep implications of their own personal and moral beliefs in world we live in today.
To provide all students with a rigorous curriculum that brings to life the curriculum directory, ensuring that each Key Stage builds on from the previous and allows students to develop their religious literacy and their thirst for knowledge.
To ensure consistency of high quality of teaching across the department and accurate use of assessments. Ensuring all students have access to the same high quality of teaching and learning, students are given the appropriate feedback they need to make their individual progress.
To ensure all students make expected progress by providing interventions inside and outside lessons to ensure the needs of all students are met.
