Retreats

Once a year each form class is invited to the Chapel to experience a retreat, a moment to take time out and leave behind the usual distractions to enter a time of deep reflection where prayer and scripture are central.

We also welcome pupils from our local primary schools into our Chapel for retreats.

Year 7- ‘One body, many parts’ retreat

The theme of our Year 7 retreat is based on the Scripture verse: “You are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Pupils reflected on their purpose and role in the world, our unique character God had created us with and how we can serve in the body of Christ.

Our retreat ended with a prayerful Christian meditation as out students went ‘Walking with Jesus’.

Our Year 8 retreat is focuses on ‘God in nature’, a reflection on noticing the hand of God behind the glory, wisdom and loving care of His creation.

Our Year 11 theme is based on God the Father: Who is He? How do I see Him? How does He see me?

Retreats ended with guided Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, reflecting on the Word of God in ‘The Fathers Love letter’

Key takeaways from students:

“God loves me unconditionally”

“God is always present and listening”

“The voice of God isn’t an angry one”

“Adoration gave us time with Christ”

“Adoration allowed me to pray with God with no distractions”

Sixth Form Retreat

This year 6th form students will be going on a retreat hosted by ‘Youth2000’ a young adult ministry on the theme of Renewal.

A group of 6th form students joined 280 young people at a retreat hosted by Youth2000 to explore our personal relationship with the living God during a jam-packed day filled with various talks, praise and worship, a women’s and men’s session and ending with a powerful healing service.

Retreat with St Scholastica’s Primary School Paplains  (Pupil Chaplains)

Our retreat was based on being ‘Called to Serve’, we discussed what it means to serve others the way that God has commanded, especially those that might not like or treat us well.

We read scripture on the moment Simon was first called to be a disciple and reflected on God’s calling on our own lives, finally we ended the retreat with identifying the qualities God had gifted us with, gifts we are given to serve Him and others.
