Facilities

Cardinal Pole is based over two sites in Homerton, East London. The Upper School is based on Kenworthy Road and the Lower School is based on Victoria Park Road. In 2006 a new designated building was opened for the 6th Form at the Upper School.

The school is due to be rebuilt on a single site under the Building Schools for the Future programme ( BSF ) by September 2012.

Upper School (Kenworthy Road )
The Kenworthy Road site was originally established in 1959 to serve the needs of the Catholic community of Hackney and the surrounding areas. Today it operates as the ‘Upper School’ and is attended by pupils in years 9 – 13.

Having recently undergone a huge refurbishment, the communal areas and classrooms offer a bright, clean and stimulating learning environment for all pupils.

Like all modern schools the Upper School contains state of the art facilities, with four IT suites and a recently refurbished library and learning resources area, all pupils are easily able to access one of the 300+ computers which are on site. In addition each classroom is equipped with computers and interactive whiteboards.

As a Science Specialist College there are five Science Laboratories and special teaching rooms are available for Religious Studies, Geography, History, Sociology, Mathematics, Music and English.

In addition to a good range of PE facilities, there are workshops in the basement area for Drama, Technology and Music. Additional blocks house Art, Photography, two further Technology workshops and a Careers base.

There is a large playground available for our pupils. The main assembly hall, dining area and chapel are on the ground floor of the building. A tuck shop sells hot and cold snacks, at break time and an excellent cafeteria lunch is available at lunch time.

Sixth Form Building
A new building was opened in September 2006 on Kenworthy Road for our Sixth Form which provides dedicated facilities to support our young adults between the ages of 16 – 19.

With specialised classrooms containing state of the art IT facilities, a dedicated resources and study area and a Sixth Form ‘Team Room’ where seminars are held and one to one tuition takes place, our Sixth Form is rapidly acquiring a reputation of excellence.

A large common room is also available to our students throughout the day.

Lower School ( Victoria Park Road )
In 1974 Cardinal Pole took over the old St. Victoire's building in Victoria Park Road to become a two site school.

Built in the 1860s as a copy of a French Chateau, our pupils in years 7 and 8 spend their first two years at the Lower School.

Despite it's beautiful gardens and trees, towers and turrets the Lower School is very much a modern school with two IT suites and a recently refurbished Library with IT facilities.  Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and computers are easily accessible in all rooms.

The Lower School has all the facilities required to teach the broad range of subjects at KS3, although for Technology, children travel to the Upper School once a week, by a teacher supervised school bus.

With a new gym, extensive grounds and the nearby Victoria Park, the Lower School offers excellent PE facilities for students to enjoy.

A tuck shop sells hot and cold snacks, at break time and an excellent cafeteria lunch is available at lunch time.
